PDT and Laser Treatment to Improve Skin Conditions
For the treatment of skin disease, sun damage, or pre-cancerous cells, Dr. Amy Vaughan utilizes Levulan for photodynamic therapy. Photodynamic therapy can also be used to combat conditions such as rosacea and acne. The activity of these hard-to-treat conditions is destroyed by light and the Levulan solution. This treatment can also be used to smooth skin and reduce older acne scars.
What is photodynamic therapy?
Photodynamic therapy (PDT) is the process of using light or laser energy to attack skin disease. The skin will first be coated with a layer of Levulan, a prescription solution that makes the target celled more susceptible to light.
The combination of laser energy and Levulan results in the treatment of diseased skin cells and glands. It also promotes healthier, smoother skin, and may even prevent skin cancer.
