What are Skin Tags and How are They Treated?
Skin tags are benign, brown or skin-colored bumps that typically arise around the neck, armpits, and groin area. Skin tags are usually small, but can possibly grow up to 50 mm. They are typically painless, unless they have been irritated or injured. This is particularly apt in areas of friction, or where skin tags are covered by restrictive clothing.

Skin Tags are Common
While anyone can develop skin tags, they are most common in middle age and older adults, or people who have gained weight. Excess skin or areas where skin is frequently rubbed or irritated are common sites for skin tags. The number of skin tags varies on individuals from just a few tags, to over a hundred. These growths are usually painless and harmless, but many individuals have them removed because of their appearance. Skin tags may reoccur at any time, and there is no way to prevent them. Individuals with continuous skin tags may have regular removal treatments.  In most cases, medical insurances do not cover removal of these skin growths.
